“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
There are times we feel that our circumstances never seem to come to a resolve, and that our suffering or hardship does not seem to come to an end. Why does our depression, anxiety, stress, conflict, or anger never seem to heal? We are often posed with the cliché Christian answer – “in God’s time”. But when is that precisely? The most difficult part of taking that answer is the question of when and how? Trust is a difficult matter of perception for those who are in the deepest and darkest circumstances.
The insecurity of such an answer is not actually when or how God would bring resolution to our predicaments, but rather if he actually will. No matter who we are, we have all faced moments of rejection, or of disappointments. We have grown up as skeptics of people and their commitments, even from the people who we lean on most. The most difficult part then of trusting in God for many is the attribution of such human depravity to our creator. Will God actually follow through? Is he really hearing my prayers? Does God love me enough that he would know my needs?
One beautiful characteristic about God that we can identify about him is that he is eternal. He is not just always present, knowing, has all the power in he universe, but he has been with us and knew us even before we were even born. He loved us before we would have any idea how to love.
The long journey of waiting for God’s timing is not just trusting that God will answer, but that we trust in His eternity. He is with you to the very end, and has everything prepared for you beyond even your immediate needs.
