I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

One day while I was at the mall and standing in line for some Lebanese food for lunch, I had noticed two children with their mother. The eldest son had a falafel sandwich in his hand and was attempting to feed his little brother who must have been no more than 5 years old. At first he glanced at the sandwich and shook his head saying “no, that looks weird”. But as his brother insisted and began to take big bites out of the sandwich making big “mmm” noises, the little boy was enticed to give it a try. After the first bite, he must have fallen in love with the taste of it and began to ask for more, but to the elder brother’s disdain that his little brother was taking his meal.

To taste and experience the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus in our lives is one that is staggeringly transformational. There is no other taste like it, to know and have the reassurance through the revelation of the gospel and convicting faith in our salvation through Christ is nothing that can be compared to. But the question may be for some of us today – how do I have that kind of faith? how do I experience Christ in that manner?

For many of us, believing in God is the easy part. Somehow in our minds it might make sense, though to some it is preposterous to think that God is real. But faith requires much more than just believing. It requires us to trust – something that is not easy for many of us. Possibly because in our experience, trust is something that is earned. Trust may be something that is given by us when there is tangible evidence of a consistent positive outcome. But faith requires a trust that has hope beyond evidence and even beyond the touch of reality; regardless of the outcome and trusting that things are going as planned – whether we understand it in that moment or not.

To have faith in Jesus, is to love and trust him no matter the circumstance. To be obedient to his Word no matter how much it goes against the grain of the norms of society and how different we may feel when abiding to his will.

As we have a new start to a new week, what are some of the things today and the rest of the week that we can begin to trust and have faith in Jesus with? When we begin to be obedient to Him, love Him, and seek him in all moments is when God continues to pour the revelation of the power of His name and the beauty of the gospel into your life.

May you continue to search more for Jesus in your life this week and to lay all the burdens of life down before him. Through it all, so that you may experience the glorious goodness of his grace, and how he is truly our saviour.
